Tinker is a narrative film that touches upon themes of brotherhood, exploitation, and pushing a person to their limits. Many of the scenes and the general filming style pull inspiration from movies such as Tetsuo: The Iron Man and 964 Pinocchio. However, as a collaborative piece the film is primarily a convergence of our previous works. The high contrast black & white coloring, focus on interpersonal relationships, and darkly comedic writing coming from David Lovo’s work. The in public shooting, strange costuming, and
absurdist elements a development of Liam Gibson’s films. And the hectic editing and strong music choices being a staple of Kiran Shere-Wolfe. The jazz score is another planned choice, playing into the free-form sequencing. Despite the grim plot and violent situations the film is largely fantastical, balancing the seriousness of the situation with off-kilter comedy. The general goal was to put together an entertaining watch that built upon our creative interests and we are very proud of the way it came out.
